On 25th September 2011, during the Milan W’s Fashion Week, Borbonese presented its new SS12 Collection designed by Gabriele Colangelo.
THE COLLECTION
The created poetic spaces of contemporary American artist Philip Taaffee, populated by geometrical elements, wild world subjects and a widespread biomorphism with elaborate and articulated optical effects form the inspiration for the SS 2012 Borbonese collection.
Floral and animalier prints are taken from geometrical compositions with structural and chromatic proportions, playing with tridimensional perceptions. Evocative and elegant colour explosions fill up the foulards and the light dresses in fluid crepe de chine, with sheer overlays and overlappings, within which the O.P. print becomes the background texture for water-coloured flowers, and on macro coats in the degradèe effects.
The same effect is used on leather with a specially developed technique that uniquely shows the brand trade mark on bags and summery coats.
Colour-block is made with sophisticated natural nuances and it defines the new shapes of bags-with side metal plates and with flashes of white gold light. Natural snakeskin, shown in a more delicate and powdery shade of colours, covers rigid clutches enriched with stones or, in a softer version, the maxi bag fused with metallic elements.
Jewels are conceived as small sculptures- covetable design objects that are a completely contemporary and luxe addition to the collection, without any nod to maximalism.
